FELRC Expanding Shipping Subsidy Eligibility

In order to increase horse supply in the backstretch and encourage more trainers to race at Fort Erie, Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium’s Board of Directors approved a modification to the Shipping Subsidy, approved July 22, 2020. A horse shipping in to stable and race at Fort Erie from any location, including tracks in the United States, will now be eligible for the $300 subsidy, after the horse has raced twice at Fort Erie. All other requirements remain the same, including the eligibility period, from July 22, 2020 to October 13, 2020.

This program will also be applicable to Fort Erie based trainers that claim a horse at Woodbine. The horse is eligible if it stables at Fort Erie and races here twice during the 2020 season.

This program will only be available during the current racing season, from July 22, ending October 13, 2020. Horses shipping in to stable at Fort Erie for the 2021 racing season will not be eligible for this program.

In order to qualify, trainers must submit the attached application form to the Race Office when their horse arrives on the property. If you have already shipped horses in after July 22, 2020, please ensure that you complete this form and submit it to the Race Office as soon as possible.
