Fort Erie Race Track remains closed to spectators
As Niagara enters into stage 3 of Ontario’s plan for reopening the province, Fort Erie Race Track will continue to be closed to spectators for live racing. The Racebook tele theatre will also remain closed for simulcast wagering at this time.
Sporting events and large public gatherings continue to have limitations in stage 3. Under the new guidelines, outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 people.
“We know that fans miss being at the track for live racing, and we miss having fans, but we need to move forward safely,” said Tom Valiquette, chief operating and financial officer of the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium. “We want to progress slowly to keep our operations safe. Up to this point we have had a successful season, and don’t want to do anything that will jeopardize that.”
Fort Erie Race Track will begin the reopening process by allowing pre-registered owners and trainers based in Fort Erie with a valid AGCO license to attend on race days, up to 100 people per day. Proper mask use and physical distancing will be enforced for all in attendance. At this time, wagering and food and beverage service will not be available.
Fans can continue to watch racing online in high definition at http://forterieracing.com/streaming-and-replays. Wagering in Ontario is available through HPI Bet.
